So, I... erm... won?

Last night I got awarded the @gamedevheroes Writing + Narrative gong. Just... wild.

Still kinda taking it all in, but very honoured, humbled, grateful and happy - I was amongst incredibly talented writers in my fellow nominees, and that would have been enough. So to be given the actual award is mind-blowing.

Massive thanks to all the judges, organisers, sponsors and those who nominated me, who all made this happen (as well as some kind souls who got me to the event). I know this is a pretty rough time in the industry right now - to say the least - and the first half of the year has been difficult for a variety of reasons, so I'm especially appreciative for any bright spots or celebrations like this. Things can get better 🙏🏿

I also was lucky enough to catch up with a lot of friends at both Game Dev Heroes and @developbrighton, old and new, which was awesome - friendly faces only made an amazing 24 hours even better, even if we only chatted for a few minutes ❤️

(What was less awesome was being reminded that seagulls run Brighton as if they're the Mafia. Ruthless. To whichever ones that decided to stop me from sleeping by screeching all night and morning... I took that personally. I'll be back for you.)

Very proud to be a narrative advisor in an exciting new programme which can help you enter the world of interactive storytelling.

@brightblack_productions in partnership with @screen.south and @britishfilminstitute are offering paid places for twelve projects on DevelopCreate XR: a national programme for story makers from all backgrounds to develop a player-centred XR experience.

If selected, you'll develop full length genre-based stories over a 9 month paid programme, with support via learning labs, mentoring sessions and more.

I was alongside host Luke Foster, screenwriter/script consultant/editor David Wigram, and screenwriter/filmmaker Liz van Ingen, delving into the creative choices made in the script, the difficulties of historical accuracy and the hilarious inclusion of an ancient internet meme.
