My first handheld was a Sega Game Gear that I got when I was about 12-years-old, which I was so excited about owning that I created a fully coloured cardboard one with little cardboard carts to go into it.

30+ years later and I'm playing current gen games like Sable and Forza Horizon on a PC physically not that much bigger than my first handheld.

This industry has its (many, many) issues, but sometimes...

...sometimes the kid inside me is still in total awe.

One of my resolutions this year is to celebrate gratitude a bit more (...and not wallow with the demons when they peer through the cracks), so, in that spirit...

I recently posted this pic on my Twitter feed without context, but it represents one of my happiest personal accomplishments in my 20+ years in the industry - being one of the few journalists invited to a small 2003 roundtable to interview the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto during a rare UK tour, prior to the European launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on GameCube.

Months earlier I reviewed the Japanese version of The Wind Waker for the now long defunct website Games Domain... which turned out to be the first and only time I was to ever review a Zelda title, due to the weird and wild turns my career took shortly afterwards.

But this single copy I reviewed remains signed and dated by Miyamoto san himself, from a press event not since repeated, which makes it all the more special to me.

Surreal.

But very, very grateful.

(Also grateful social media wasn't a thing back then, as some people weren't happy with me giving it 4 out of 5 😬.)

It’s been a big day for Windrush Tales, the illustrated adventure game I’m co-developing, alongside @chellawrites , @shimmer.witch and @naimaramanan, with some news to update you with.

Firstly, we had an excellent article written about the game in @eurogamerofficial which details the background and inspiration behind the game, as well as providing perspective on Windrush. You can read that via my bio (temporarily)!

Next, we’re delighted and honoured to announce that Windrush Tales has become the first ‘3-Fold Presents’ title, meaning we're officially partnered with the BAFTA-nominated 3-Fold Games team; a massive deal in bringing Windrush Tales to a wider audience.

And last, but far from least, Windrush Tales is now on Steam for you to wishlist! Which is incredibly exciting – you can check out the page linked in the Eurogamer article.

We're only a few weeks off the launch of The Most

We're only a few weeks off the launch of The Most Important Comic Book on Earth by the @rewritingextinction collective, so it's about time I got off my butt and previewed the second of the short stories I wrote and collaborated on for it!

This one ('Acceleration') is co-created by Kennedy Cooke-Garza, @ExtremeELive Founder / CEO @alejandroextremee, Lucas Gattoni, Michael Perlman, and the project founder @paulgoodenough - touching on the subject matter of conservation, climate change and the strides Extreme E has made in helping the planet.

It was amazing to work with all these brilliant and talented collaborators (as well as giving me the chance to officially write in the equally brilliant and talented likes of Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky and other greats who graciously lended their faces to the story), so I'm looking forward to seeing it in print when we launch on 28th October!
